Welcome to Interference Medium

In signal processing, theory and practice are applied with the goal of effecting clear signaling from unclear conditions.

Signals can be derived from many physical domains - such as electromagnetic, acoustic, matter. Radio is made possible as oscillating energy fields propagate through space. Sound and speech occur as pressure waves. A human cannot be in two places at once, nor can two humans talk over each other clearly. Things contend for their occupancy of the field. This is as true for energy and matter as it is for language and communication. Where there is contention, there is interference. We can call these substrates where this phenomena occurs interference mediums.

Signal processing is a necessary operation as a digital abstraction is a reduction of our physical world. Representing the world as signal is lossy. The details of how we go about this are important.

It is from signals that meaning is derived.
